Automatic Turkish Coffee Machine (Photo Guide)

You like Turkish coffee... But you don't have time, equipment or just patient to make it by using a pot (cezve)?? Okay, your answer lies on a fully automatic coffee machine! :-)

In recent years different producers have introduced various automatic Turkish coffee makers. I've tried almost all of them. According to my experience, I can highly recommend you the machine which is called Telve and produced by Arcelik. By the way, you can find the same machine under the company name of Beko, it's completely same with Arcelik's Telve. (Telve is produced in Turkey, so it's a 1200 Watts, 220-240 Volt machine. For use in the US, you need a transformer.)

Telve package comes up with a coffee machine, a special pot, and a spoon. The pot is made from silver-painted DuPont Zytel HTN high-performance polyamide.

Actually, there are two different models of Telve. One model has two pots, which makes it possible to prepare two separate brews with different tastes. I use the model with only one pot, called mini Telve. With this model, you can make up to 3 cups of Turkish coffee at one go. If you're not a big family, mini Telve will be enough :) The photo below shows how mini Telve and the pot look like:

How to make Turkish Cofffe by using an automatic coffee machine:
The first thing you've to do is to put your roasted and ground Turkish coffee into the pot. You can use the spoon that came up with the machine. One spoon coffee is enough for per cup. If you don't use the spoon came up with the product, then put 2 teaspoons coffee.

Turkish coffee If you want to add sugar, this is the time. How much sugar? It completely depends on your taste. If you're new to Turkish coffee, my suggestion is to use at least two teaspoons of sugar :-)

Next step is to add water. Fill up your Turkish coffee cup (fincan) with cold water and pour into the pot. If you don't have a Turkish coffee cup, don't panic :) You can also use an espresso cup, sake cup or any porcelain cup.

How to prepare Turkish coffee Okay! You've just completed the difficult part! The rest is piece of cake :) Just press the only button the machine has... When you hit the button, you'll see blue light covering the button.

If you're making a cup of coffee, about within one minute your coffee'll be ready to serve! The machine will warn you by playing a melody and also turning off the blue light.

Get the pot and take a look at your delicious Turkish coffee :) Hmmmm!
Foamy Turkish Coffee Excellent! Now, fill your cup with the delicious coffee... But don't forget to wait a little bit (between 30 seconds to 1 minute, depending on your patience level :). The waiting will let coffee grounds settle down, therefore your coffee'll leave a better taste in your mouth.

Turkish Coffee This time, I'm serving my Turkish coffee with creme de menthe in a special liqueur glass.

As you'll see, the result is good! The foam quality and taste are really nice. Also, the machine eliminates the trouble of waiting, stirring, and adjusting to achieve the best possible taste. So, I oftenly use my Turkish coffee machine :)

As a result, I definetly recommend this machine.

You can order Arcelik Turkish coffee machines from this blog's shopping section. It's totally easy and 100% secure. :-)

Photo Guide: How to Make Turkish Coffee

This is a photo guide showing how you can make Turkish coffee by using a pot. But, please don't forget that you can find a number of different recipes to make Turkish coffee. Actually, there isn't a single best way to brew Turkish coffee. This variety gives you chance of creating your own coffee according to your taste and preferences.

Before starting, to learn more about how to make Turkish coffee you can read this article.

Ingredients
Turkish coffee (finest coffee powder)*
Cold water
Sugar (if it's desired)

* I assume you're using roasted and ground Turkish coffee. Of course, if you can roast and grind your own coffee beans, it will always give you fresher coffee taste. To learn more about grinding process, you can take a look at Turkish hand grinders post.

Equipments
Pot (cezve), Heating device, Teaspoon, Coffee cup (fincan).

That's all. Now we can start brewing! :-)

Step 1
Fincan - Turkish coffee cup Okay! We're starting, get ready! :) Get your cold water and fill up your coffee cup with it.

Step 2
Cezve - Turkish coffee pot Pour water into your pot.

Step 3Turkish coffee
If you want to add sugar, this is the time. If you are hesitant about amount of sugar to be added, start with 2 teaspoons of sugar. Then change according to your experience.

Step 4
Turkish coffee Now, it's time to pour Turkish coffee. Here I'm using ground coffee. Traditionally, you should put 2 teaspoons coffee (about 5 gram). My spoon doubles teaspoon, so I put only one spoon of coffee.

Step 5

Turkish coffee Okay, now tricky part is starting :) Heating is a very significant step in making Turkish coffee. Actually, it's not hard, but you've to pay attention. Put your pot on low flame. If you take your eye off during the brewing process, then it can overflow in a blink of the eye :-)

Step 6
Turkish coffee
When you put your pot on flame, stir mixture for once (about one or two seconds) to get a homogeneous liquid.

Step 7
How to brew Turkish coffee When the coffee almost boils, pour some of it into the coffee cup by using your teaspoon to get the foam. If you make coffee for more than one cup, then pour it equally among the cups. Allow the remaining coffee to brew a while longer before adding it to the cups. Actually, you can repeat this process 2 or 3 times. It depends on your patience :) Rule of thumb is 3 times. Thinking behind this step is to have good quality foam. My suggestion is to start with only one time, if it's your first times.

Step 8
How to make Turkish coffee easily If you come until this step, it means you're so close to drink a cup of delicious Turkish coffee! :) As you noticed, Turkish style does not have a filtering process at any time. So, it is better to wait for a while (between 30 seconds to a minute) before drinking your coffee to let the coffee grounds settle at the bottom of the cup. By the way, the coffee grounds sink to the bottom shouldn't be consumed.

Now you can enjoy your coffee! :-) By the way, please don't forget drinking Turkish coffee shouldn't be done in hurry. Take a seat in a comfortable chair and then take a sip from your coffee to enjoy the moment! :)

Afiyet Olsun! (Bon Appetite!)

Photos of Turkish Coffee Cups (Part II)

Here is the second part of fincan photos. This time we have two new cups.
This is another hand-made cup, which is almost 100 years old...

Turkish coffee cup

This cup is really different than others. Because it is made of glass! Traditionally, fincan (Turkish coffee cup) is porcelain. This glass one is actually also rare in Turkey. I prefer porcelain cups. That is because not only historical reasons. Also, a porcelain cup keeps heat better than a glass one.
